A Letter From Your Counselor

I greatly enjoy working at KCC Prep High School and being part of the KCC family and educational team. I have been part of the KCC family as a parent for the past 5 years as both of my sons are students at KCC schools. I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve as the new school counselor at KCC Prep High School this year! I am focused on getting our students to the next level academically by helping to equip them with 21st Century skills that promote success in college and career readiness.

I have been serving in the Hillsborough County Public Schools as a Florida Certified School Counselor for almost 5 years. My role is to develop and run a comprehensive guidance program where services such as classroom lessons, small-group counseling, individual counseling, peer-mediation for conflict resolution, college readiness, career counseling, life-skills building, teacher consultation, and parent support isprovided. Prior to my role as a school counselor, I spent 8 years working with children who struggle with communication disorders and behaviors, primarily children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Besides the last 13 years of working with children and families through the school district, I have worked for over 8 years, alongside my husband, with local youth ministries in the community in providing mentorship to adolescent youth and young adults. For the past two years, I have been serving as the Chair of the board for Israel’s House Inc., a non-profit organization helping adolescent youth and their families in the area of mental health services. I earned a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Argosy University and a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of South Florida.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and serving in various capacities within my church and community. I strongly believe in our youth and the next generation. I understand that with the right mentorship and character development, they are able to be phenomenal leaders within our communities. My goal is to help them reach their fullest potential. I live by the saying that “Expectations drive behaviors.” If we expect that our students will excel and thrive, then our actions, as educators and caregivers, will align with actions that help them get there.

I feel honored to have been given the opportunity to serve in this capacity as KCC Prep.HighSchool’sCounselor. IbelieveintheKCCvisionandmissionandknowthe heart of those that serve our students.
