Imagine how much more your child would benefit from a high-quality education in a fully accredited, individually focused VPK – 5th International Baccalaureate®  (IB) PYP school with smaller class sizes.  Consider how much better they would learn if they weren’t just another student in a large school with hundreds of other students in their grade level.

The Kid’s Community College® Southeast Elementary IB (KCC-SE IB) campus provides a high-quality, individualized, nurturing learning environment that prepares elementary school students to excel developmentally and academically. Using the IB PYP system of inquiry and Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory. KCC-SE encourages the use of innovative learning methods to improve student learning, global mindedness, character development and high academic achievement.

As the only IBO World PYP authorized tuition-free, 100% full IB program in central Hillsborough County, our commitment to the smallest total campus and class size continue to be best in class.  This focus is central to our ability to effectively allocate resources to concentrate on individual student impact, which continues to be a BIG factor for families that prefer a more rigorous, personalized, caring, family-oriented learning environment.

The unique strength at KCC-SE IB is our strong partnerships with students and families. We live in a time when parents are often shut off from the day-to-day education of their children. This makes it difficult to truly create a relationship with your child’s teacher or administrative team. At KCC-SE IB, having a working relationship with every parent and every student is key to our success. We invite you into our classrooms and into our school because our relationship with your whole family matters.

The KCC-SE IB PYP program benefits both learners and educators, and strengthens learning and international mindedness throughout the entire school community.

KCC-SE IB for Students – Students learn how to think for themselves and take responsibility for their own learning through an inquiry-led approach.  By developing their preferred learning modalities and infusing the attributes of the IB learner profile, students also learn how to demonstrate respect for themselves and others, developing international-mindedness by working with others for a shared purpose and taking positive action for change.

KCC-SE IB for Teachers – Our PYP Professors (teachers) are among the most passionate and dedicated educators in the world; supported by required, transformative professional development experiences that allow them to do the same for students.

KCC-SE IB for the School Community – At KCC-SE IB parents and the wider school community are also considered learners and valued as essential partners in students’ learning.

Being an authorized IB World School takes continuous dedication and commitment on the part of the school, parents, and learning community to meet rigorous quality assurance requirements. At KCC-SE IB, a regular cycle of support and evaluation ensures the highest quality assurance.  Our International Baccalaureate® programme aims to do more than other elementary schools by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.

We strive to develop students who will build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect by:

  • Encouraging students to think critically and challenge assumptions
  • Developing independently of government and national systems, incorporating high-quality practice from research and the global community of IB authorized schools
  • Encouraging students to consider both local and global contexts
  • Respecting and further developing each student’s preferred learning style
  • Maintaining high academic, character and instructional practice standards

At KCC-SE IB, students are able to take responsibility for their own learning and understand how knowledge itself is constructed.  Rather than being taught on the basis of a test, they are encouraged to try different approaches to learning and to take responsibility for their own educational progress.  We highlight the importance of nurturing dispositions such as curiosity and compassion as well as developing knowledge and skills. Along with cognitive development, KCC-SE IB is concerned with students’ social, emotional and physical well-being, and with ensuring that students learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them.
