KCC Southeast IB PYP
PYP Student Led Portfolio Showcase
Come see how proud we are of our students at the Primary Year Program IB Showcase.
This showcase is student led. Over the course of the International Baccalaureate in the Primary Years Program, students are required to keep a portfolio of their work that should show growth and achievements over time.
From the early stages of Kindergarten all the way through 4h grade students collect artifacts and work samples from each of the 6 themes covered each year in the PYP Program. The artifacts are later compiled and created into an exhibition with a central idea during 5th grade. The showcase will display the units that have been taught during that selected period.
These themes consist of:
How the world works
Where we are in place and time
How we organize ourselves
Who we are
Sharing the planet
How we express ourselves
The PYP portfolio showcase is that unlike the 5th grade exhibition where artifacts from each unit are stored in a binder, for the showcase, items that are chosen are a combination of summative projects or cross-curricular activities, that tie in to the PYP Themes. It can consist of a variety of items such as pictures, reflections or 3D deigns of what they have learned from the recent unit. Students reflect an ongoing learning process of utilizing the learner profiles, attitudes and key concepts related to the transdisciplinary unit.
We hope you will join us at our next PYP Showcase to see how hard our talented and globally minded students have worked.
