KCC Southeast Middle (MYP Candidacy School)
Kid’s Community College® Southeast Middle Charter School (KCCSEM) is a MYP Candidacy School that is a natural extension of the fully authorized IB elementary school. KCCSEM provides middle school students with a high-quality, IB MYP focused individualized education by offering a proven system of learning taught to their specific learning modality, respecting Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory.
As an upward replication, the KCCSEM MYP Programme is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Research shows that students participating in the MYP:
- Build confidence in managing their own learning
- Learn by doing, connecting the classroom to the larger world
- Outperform non-IB students in critical academic skills
- Consistently have greater success in IB Diploma Programme examinations
- Thrive in positive school cultures where they are engaged and motivated to excel
- Develop an understanding of global challenges and a commitment to act as responsible citizens.
Each of the IB programmes at KCC reflects a central desire to provide an education that enables students to make sense of the complexities of the world around them, as well as equipping them with the skills and dispositions needed for taking responsible action for the future. They provide an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries, and that champions critical engagement, stimulating ideas and effective relationships.
Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Career-related Programme (CP), which opens a choice of international education pathways for 16 to 19 year old students. KCCSEM is a first-class character building, IB MYP learning environment that prepares students to excel as exemplary citizens who fully understand their individual learning styles, maximize their use, enjoy learning, think critically, and demonstrate complete academic mastery and leadership skills resulting in successful, productive, contributing internationally minded citizens.
Come see how the KCCSEM IB MYP programme provides today’s middle school students with better opportunities for sustained inquiry into a range of local and global issues and ideas. This willingness to see beyond immediate situations and boundaries is essential as globalization and emerging technologies continue to blur traditional distinctions between local, national and international education.
