Developing Minds

Part of our Undergraduate Program, the Freshman I class gingerly introduces and promotes the infant student's cognitive (ability to learn), social and emotional (ability to interact with others), speech and language (ability to understand and use language), fine motor skill (ability to use small muscles) and gross motor skill development (ability to use large muscles). These developmental areas are craftily interwoven in the Kid's Community College® Curriculum and Educational Philosophy.

Our Professors create beginning educational experiences that nurture, encourage and foster infant learning by interacting with them in a loving and attentive fashion; reading lots of books, exposure to a variety of sound and music stimulus including classical music and earth sounds and providing a fun and intellectually stimulating learning environment. The collaborative effort between and among Professors and parents is established from the onset of an infant's tenure at Kid's Community College.

Even at this young age, students in the Kid's Community College program are assessed and an Individual Development and Education Plan (IDEP) is created for each infant - setting personalized goals for each student based on that child's needs. The IDEP is updated regularly and planned parent conferences are scheduled quarterly to ensure that every area of your infant's development is being addressed.

To maintain the most sanitary environment possible for our infants, we enforce a "no shoe" policy within the Freshman I classroom for all adults entering the room. We also implement consistent disinfecting of all toys and surfaces to aid in the elimination of germs. In addition, each child has their own crib which is stripped and sanitized daily. All clean blankets, crib sheets, burp clothes, etc. are provided by the parents on Monday and sent home with the infant students on Friday to be washed and returned again the next week.
