U.S. Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical and Adult Education Scott Stump visited Kid’s Community College Preparatory High School (KCC Prep) in Riverview, Florida, to see how this public charter high school fosters college and career readiness by addressing students’ individual learning needs, interests, and strengths.
KCC Prep emphasizes multiple types of intelligence, and the school allows students to pursue opportunities tailored to their personal academic strengths. Scholars earn their NAFTrack Certification, which signifies to employers that they have reached key benchmarks in academics and project completion. KCC also offers AP classes and other opportunities for students to earn college credit. Students are encouraged to interact with the world around them through community service and student clubs, such as Student Government Association, National Honor Society, and Student Ambassadors.
This visit was one of several Assistant Secretary Stump made throughout Florida to highlight the positive impact of education freedom on students and their communities.
